living up in the sky
having experience living in a high rise home,
now i know some pros and cons of.. yeah of living in a high rise home, what else ;P
may be in the future, a high rise home is very practical for people in the city.
one,
the weather is usually crazy. when it's raining, heavy rain mostly, it will come with a flood.
so living in a condo or apartment may save your shoes.
two,
pollution is everywhere. may be we can avoid too much dust on the ground..
..by living up off the ground!
three,
less pest problem or may be no pest at all.
i'm just assuming because should there be a mosquito or a fly on a 40th floor?
TBH, living in a quarters apartment, i'm facing some issues :
1) elevators
- peak hours in the morning, feels like forever waiting.
- short circuit time! *insert excited face* the button won't work!
- sometimes if the elevator is not working, you have to use the stairs (pray hard for the ones at 18th floor)
- trash aroma. when irresponsible people didn't handle their trash well in the elevator.
2) car and home
- home is at 9th floor, car at G floor. just imagine if i'm rushing to work and suddenly i left something at home. or vice versa. have to get back again in the elevator.
- if there are too many things to carry from car to home. have to make a few trips; car-home-car-home-car-home. hahaha
- no dedicated parking. people at other blocks also chipped in our parking lots. just 'great'.
3) water pressure
- sharing water supply with other houses. sometimes if the people from lower floor are using the water, the water pressure at my home can be a bit low.
thing is, when you live in a high rise building, you need to share everything with everyone.
say if you live in a serviced apartment, you have to share all of the facilities like swimming pools, gyms, etc. (and you have to pay monthly for the service!) you have to queue for an elevator. you have to queue on peak hours to get out of the parking lot.. and much more.
i enjoy living in the quarters, i do. but seeing more high rise developments near the area, i know there will be traffic jams once the other buildings are occupied. hope by that time, our new house is ready to be reside.
